Whilst prousing other auto blogs (looking for images to steal) I ran across a pic from the Hassie car show I posted on Hemmings auto blogs and they said "The folks over at the A.D.D. Garage visited a local tin toy car show and came back with a good set of pictures of the event"
I wondered why I had a bump in viewership from the usual 2 to over 800 and the next day back to 2.
Not all the pics are of gals (far from it)but it's a great thread, some 470 pageswith all kinds of pictures from a dayin the life of America from the40's to today.
The Hassie Car Club held their first Annual car show the other weekend. The show had many cars not seen in any Spokane show in many years. Lots of 30's and 40's era large autos.
A friend's (Mac) air cooled Franklin.
The cylinders of the Franklin open to the air.
Cool looking component on the Franklin.
Muntz Jet a rare car made in the early 50's aluminum bodied with a fiberglass top.
I took Bailey for a spin in the Speedster after the show and he really seem to enjoy it.
As I got out of the car after the ride a gentleman tapped me on the shoulder and said "Do you know what you just did?" "No, what" I said. "You just created a car guy for life." He answered.
Not bad for a 5 minute ride.
Interesting, Ed won his class and Bailey's Pick last year with the Cobra.
Luckly this year he chose to stay home and work on projects.
If you have just a few minutes and would like to understand how the differential works here is a pre-war GM educational film clip. Only a few minutes long, very simply explains the principle of the diffs operation. A well spent 9 minutes.
Thoughts and images of my collection (and others) of autos from the beginning of the last century through to the early 70's. No expensive super cars or rare vintage one of a kinds. No, these cars are available with a little legwork and some luck. Most all are very affordable and easy to work on with plenty of cheap parts. I find them all very interesting with lots of history. These cars are not perfect and all are works in progress. ------------ And there-in lies the fun.
