The most beautful car in the world.

This interesting video that in short order explains a lot about
where E Types should be placed in the history of great cars.

Ahh.. Summer time.

With the temps hitting sub 0 range let's wander
back in
time to warmer climes.

Here we are at the Duke's Picnic show and shine June last summer.
(right after my run-in with the law)

Wow a Ford with a nice flattie!

Very yellow.

Gotta love it.

Speaking of Stainless Steel How 'bout Wood.

From this 1953 article in Mechanical Illustrated someone
built from plans in the magazine this wood light weight car.

You can read a fine article at the Jalopy Journal
and see many more pics of this car.

The Woodie is being sold by the St. Louis Car Museum
which (I think) owns it.

It was avaiable on Ebay bidding stopped a about
20 grand but they were looking for closer to 30.

It looks like St. Louis Car Museum will
finance through (of all company's) Woodside Credit.

Stainless Steel Autos

From an email of a couple in the
local Model T club:

"This is the 1936 Ford Coupe built for and owned by
Allegheny Ludlum Steel.
It was attending our open house and
then was featured in a local parade with
over 100 of
our salaried, hourly and retired employees walking alongside."

"This is 1 of only 4 in existence and is the
only one currently in running and in roadworthy condition.
The car is in exceptional condition, with the interior
and even the frame looking great.
All 4 cars
each had over 200,000 miles on them before
they removed them from service."

"These cars were built for Allegheny as promotional and
marketing projects.
The top salesmen each year were
given the honor of being able to drive them for one year.

The v-8 engine (max 85 hp) ran like a sewing machine
and was surprisingly smooth and quite.
FYI,
the car was insured (we were told) for the
trip to Louisville via covered trailer for 1.5 million dollars."

"We were also told that the dies were ruined by
stamping the stainless car parts, making these
the last of these cars ever produced."
(Ed. They did produce two Thunderbirds and a Lincoln
convertible later)
More information of the history
on these and other Stainless Steel automobiles
can be found at Allegheny Ludlum's website.

Ed's Cobra does it again!

Ed's Cobra roadster showed up in the December issue of
Good Guys monthly magazine highlighting the

best of the August Spokane Good Guys show.

I had gone through my issue with bated breath looking
for the Daytona to show up as the Model T Speedster did in
the same
December issue some 3 years ago.
But no joy,
and in my haste I missed Ed's car!

But what an honor, out of 2 to 3 thousand cars in the
August Good Guys Northwest Nationals they pick only
20 to 30 autos to highlight in their monthly magazine.
So once again, congratulations to Ed.

(Jeez, that guy is everywhere.
)
